Lake Redwood
Reservoir Reclamation and Enhancement Project Background
Lake Redwood has a 640 square mile watershed of TMDL listed Redwood River draining portions of six counties into it before draining into the Minnesota River.
Water quality improvements to Redwood River watershed over the past 20 years have enabled Lake Redwood to be dredged to the original 27 foot depth, but the money provided will allow the lake to be restored to an average depth of 10 feet.
This project will provide flood storage, treat TMDL impairments and continue to provide hydro power to Redwood Falls as well as increase recreational opportunities. Matching funds will provide low interest loan dollars for septic systems and technical assistance/cost share to reduce phosphorus inputs to the Redwood River.
